Dad is getting a feeding tube put in this morning. Mom and I will be there. Wish him luck
Later in the day:
Dad did not have the feeding tube put in. He had a slight fever, so the Dr., against the nurses' thoughts, decided to put a tube down his nose and tie down his right hand, the only one that works, so he didn't pull it out. She and I both agreed that one more day, as heavy as he is, would not hurt him as much as the nose tube would. He did talk a little more today, but he still does not realize where he is. But I do think he knew who my Mom and I were. He can't take any fluids through his mouth, and has not had even so much as a drink of water for two days. He is getting IV fluids, so he is not dehydrated, but his mouth and throat are very sore from no water or anything. I felt so bad, because he almost begged for a drink, but the nurse said no so there was nothing I could do.
On another note, the people in my life that are making it better, keeping me strong are my Mother and my best friend Kim. I thank God for both of them.

Dad's Dr. called today. He said his stroke was very serious and he is going to have to go into a nursing home. We are going up the the hospital in a little while, will write more then.
Went to the Hospital. Dad looks worse, it sounds like his lungs are wet. He has a tube in his nose feeding him, and he didn't open his eyes. Also has a temp. of 103.
Then we went to Dr. Coleman's office, after he gets a little better (I hope), they are going to try to put a feeding tube in his stomach on Monday, and after a few weeks, they might send him to John Knox Village for 24 hour care and rehab. He also talked to Mom about a DNR. She will sign it tomorrow. Hope we won't need it.

My Father died today around 5:00pm. I know he is in a better place. He was the best man I have ever known. He has done more for me than any son can expect from a father. I will miss him so much, his laugh, his advise, just knowing he would be there. I have done a lot to hurt him in my life, but he knows that he did the very best he could raising me. I am all grown up now, and Dad, I promise you I will take care of your Wife, my Mother. Rest well, I will always love you.
God Bless You
Your loving Son,
Tom
